Mrs. McGlone's NCCS Website

Hi! My name is Jamie McGlone!

Picture
I LOVE teaching at New Covenant Christian School and am grateful God has allowed me to do so throughout the twenty-five year history of this wonderful place!  My husband Fred, who is Senior Pastor of New Covenant Christian Church, and I helped begin this school as an integral part of our call to be builders in God’s Kingdom.  Both of our daughters were in the original group of students and graduated from NCCS, and we now have grandchildren here!  What a JOY to be seeing generational transfer everywhere we look!

Education, Testimony, and Personal and Professional Journey:

After graduating from East Lansing High School, I attended MSU, majoring in English and History Education, and graduating with honors in 1967.  I was part of an innovative student teaching experience called the Searle Program which focused on the needs of diverse students and intense training in educational methodology.

My husband Fred and I both received Jesus Christ as our personal Savior and Lord through the ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ during the same year while in college, although I was at MSU and Fred was at the University of Kentucky.  We met when Fred transferred to MSU to major in Special Education, and have been madly in love with each other for over 42 years!!!

I began teaching in Northville, Michigan, in 1967 at Ida B. Cooke Middle School, and then moved on to Haslett High School, where I helped design the “new” high school and taught World Literature and World History to juniors and seniors.

We later moved to Illinois where Fred prepared to be a pastor by attending Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, and I had some exciting years teaching at a huge North Shore high school of several thousand students called Glenbrook South.  I was part of a team of ten teachers responsible for creating language arts curriculum for over 1,000 9th graders.

When our two daughters (now both past 35 and having blessed us with 5 grandchildren between them!) were born, I taught Adult Evening School for immigrants from all over the world who were preparing to become citizens.  During this time, we were also being trained through an international discipleship organization called the Navigators in ministering to couples and families.

When we returned to Lansing to be closer to our families, we became involved in Christ-centered education, and I helped design English and History curriculum (both American and World) for one Christian School and taught for several years in two different Christian schools.  I also taught English grammar and writing at Davenport College for several years.

Pastor Fred and I both attended graduate school at MSU, he pursuing his Doctorate in Education while I was studying secondary curriculum design in English and History for my Master’s Degree.  During this time, we responded to God’s call to vocational ministry.  We joined the staff at New Covenant Christian Church in 1984 and began building this school.  I have designed curriculum and taught History and Literature in grades 7-12 and served on the administrative team at NCCS.

A few highlights for me...

Supervising nearly three hundred MSU College of Education fieldwork
students (classroom training prior to actual student teaching) at NCCS.
The MSU Department of Education even made a film highlighting our
curriculum which was shown at several educational conferences.

Having the opportunity, through our involvement with Kingdom Ministries
International, to help start Christ-centered schools in Seattle, South
Carolina, Pennsylvania, Switzerland, New Zealand, and Australia.

Having the honor of receiving international students from Sudan, Korea,
South America, and several European countries.  We are very excited to
be able to continue to impact the nations with the Gospel of the Lord
      Jesus Christ!
